Adult Day Program Aide

It's an amazing time to join Golden Life as we continue to expand our seniors housing, care, and services within western Canada. 
 
We’re looking for a full-time Day Program Aide to join our team at Rocky Mountain Village in Fernie, BC, to work in the Adult Day Program Monday to Friday. If you are a qualified Health Care Aide or Recreation Assistant and is an enthusiastic, energetic team player, then we would like to hear from you!

 
The successful candidate will have related experience, be registered with the BC Care Aide and Community Health Registry or have Recreation training, and have a passion for providing high quality care and support for seniors.

 
We are looking for someone who will:
  • Foster a warm, friendly and caring environment for residents and co-workers;
  • Have a passion for helping seniors live their best life;
  • Respect and promote the dignity, choices and individuality of each resident by recognizing them as a whole individual with unique cultural, spiritual and psychological needs;
  • Work cooperatively with other team members to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of program delivery, reporting to the Community Manager as required;
  • Encourage and support residents to participate in their personal care and provide assistance as required;
  • Provide fun social and recreation activities, including exercises.
  • Will record observations, report problems or condition changes and participate in team planning;
  • Use medical and mobility equipment safely and in accordance with Company policies and procedures, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate person;
  • Complete a variety of cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and homelike environment for residents and families.

Qualifications include:
  • Current registration and in good standing as a Health Care Assistant with the British Columbia Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry (BCCACHWR) or recreation experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Class 4 Driver's Licence.
  • Successful clearance of a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
  • Has a Physician’s waiver, negative TB screen and complete Immunization record.
  • Proof of current and complete COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Capable of work which involves extended periods of walking and standing.
  • Capable of carrying out significant lifting, carrying, bending and reaching – with appropriate techniques and equipment.
