Registered Dietitian (Contract Services)

Invermere, British Columbia

Golden Life Management, Columbia Garden Village in Invermere, BC is looking to engage the contracted services of a Registered Dietitian where you will be providing nutritional services to our Long Term Care residents.  Contractual obligations are 8 hours/week.

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Registered Dietitian is responsible for providing nutritional services through assessments, care planning and charting, reviewing the provision of nutritional care and conducting dietetic educational programs to residents and staff.
 
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Participates in the implementation of nutrition policies and procedures.
  • Completes Dietetic and Meal Service Audits.
  • Completes a nutritional screen/assessment for all residents prior to the first Interdisciplinary Conference.
  • Develops a nutritional care plan specific for each resident.
  • Provides follow up and review of residents' nutritional status quarterly and annually, or as requested per referral.
  • Provides evidence-based nutrition counselling and expertise in chronic disease management.
  • Completes clinical swallowing assessment and takes a lead in dysphagia management.
  • Formulates and monitors therapeutic diets administered through enteral means
  • Interprets and/or suggests adjustments of physician's diet orders.
  • Instructs individual residents and nursing staff regarding resident specific therapeutic nutritional needs.
  • Participates in Inter-disciplinary conferences as needed and when there are nutritional concerns.
  • Documents Food and Nutrition Services audit reports and provides recommendations for improvement to the Director of Care.
  • Responsible to ensure all texture modified foods meet the dysphagia standards.
  • Provides In-Service Trainings to staff on Dining with Dignity and Texture Modification (IDDSI), and facilitates meal service enhancement.


The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Current registration with the College of Dietitians of BC.
  • Baccalaureate degree in nutrition/dietetics.
  • Successful completion of an approved/accredited internship program.
  • Clinical nutrition experience in a health care environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Effective communication, customer service, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills,
  • Proven time management, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel around the Kootenay region as needed. 
  • Valid BC Driver’s license.
  • Successful clearance of a Vulnerable Sector – Criminal Record Check.
  • Proof of full and current COVID-19 vaccinations or approved exemption for an accommodation based on a reason related to human rights.
  • Negative TB test and Immunization Record.
Compensation: The wage range for the Registered Dietitian position is $50.00 to $75.00 per hour.
