It's an amazing time to join Golden Life as we continue to expand our seniors housing, care, and services within western Canada. 
 
We’re looking for qualified, part-time Cook to join our team at Rose Wood Village in Trail, BC. If you are a strong team player, that brings previous cooking experience, then we’d like to hear from you!
 
The successful candidate will have related experience and has a passion for providing high quality care and support for seniors. 
 
Food preparation is the essential focus of this position. While operating within the kitchen you will be responsible for, but not limited to preparing veggies, meats, sauces, and salads.
 
Other duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepare and bake desserts and soups.
  • Ensure the kitchen is operated in a clean, safe and efficient manner, including ensuring that all staff follow safe food handling procedures.
  • In order to maintain and rotate stock, the cooks will need to date and appropriately contain food.
  • Discuss deadlines and timeframes with colleagues to coordinate meal service and the sharing of equipment, workspace, and functions.
  • Communicate with dishwashers and servers regarding cleanup.
  • It is encouraged that the cook chats briefly with guests at their tables to ascertain satisfaction with the food and their service.
  • Complete all required records, which may include, but are not limited to, equipment and food inventory, food and supply orders, budget requirements and other costing measures.

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Completion of college program in cooking. Several years of related, proven cooking experience may also be considered.
  • Food Safe Certification.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector - Criminal Record Check.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, a team player, and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Able to provide a negative TB screening and immunization record.
  • Can provide proof of full and current COVID-19 vaccines.
What we offer you

Compensation: The $27.56 per hour start rate for this position currently falls under provincial wage-levelling.
