Health Care Aide (HCA)

We’re looking for a qualified, casual (FTE 0.40) Health Care Aide to join our Nursing Care team at Crest View Village in Creston, BC. If you're a qualified Health Care Aide, and you are a strong team player, then we’d like to hear from you!

The successful candidate will have related experience and a passion for providing high quality care and support for seniors.  

We're looking for someone who will: 
  • Respect and promote the dignity, choices and individuality of each resident by recognizing them as a whole individual with unique cultural, spiritual and psychological needs;
  • Provide personal care to residents and provide assistance as required;
  • Perform delegated clinical procedures, record observations, report problem or condition changes to nurse supervisor and participate in team planning;
  • Assist resident and families during admission, move-out or transfer process by orientating them to other staff and residents and providing support as required;
  • Use medical and mobility equipment safely, reporting any malfunctions to the nursing supervisor;
  • Assist with feeding and other meal-service related duties;
  • Interact with residents, guests and staff in a courteous and respectful manner;
  • Complete required documentation;
  • Follow security and infection control policies and procedures; and,
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements Include:
  • Current registration and in good standing as a Health Care Assistant with the British Columbia Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry (BCCACHWR);
  • Certificate of completion from a recognized Care aide (RCA, HCA) program;
  • As per OH&S (medical history/or requirements).
  • Ensures that the Golden Life Management POLICIES and PROCEDURES are practiced;
  • Must be accountable for all actions taken while employed by Golden Life Management;
  • Physically capable to perform all the required tasks as outlined in the job description;
  • Displays individual cooperation, attitude, Resident focus, team work, problem solving skill, and application of the Social Model of Care;
  • Able to read and write English;
  • Must have the ability to be self-motivated for this position;
  • Successful clearance of a vulnerable sector-criminal record check;
  • Provide a negative TB Screening and immunization records; and,
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccinations or approved exemption for an accommodation based on a reason related to human rights.
Compensation: The $29.83 per hour start rate for this position currently falls under provincial wage-levelling.
