Housekeeping Manager & Administration

We’re looking for a qualified, permanent, full-time (1.00 FTE) Housekeeping Manager and Administration professional to join our team at Ocean Front Village in Courtenay, BC. If you are an organized, strong team player, then we’d like to hear from you!
 
Reporting to the Community Manager, the Housekeeping Manager and Administration within a Campus of Care village will oversee the housekeeping & laundry operations and support administrative functions within the village. This role ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors while also assisting with administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the village. The position involves managing housekeeping/laundry staff, coordinating schedules for housekeeping & laundry employees, maintaining inventory, alongside providing administrative support.

Other duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise housekeeping and laundry staff.
  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness and address resident concerns promptly.
  • Manage the housekeeping budget and inventory of supplies, implementing an automatic reorder system.
  • Organize special projects for housekeeping and laundry teams.
  • Assist with daily tasks such as filing, data entry, and record-keeping.
  • Manage office supply budgets and establish an inventory system for reorders.
  • Support the Community Manager with correspondence, report preparation, and inter-departmental coordination.
  • Handle resident and staff communication, including inquiries and information dissemination.
  • Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and bookkeeping functions.
  • Assist new Long-Term Care residents with lease agreements and necessary documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to Golden Life Management policies and conduct performance appraisals for relevant staff.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and organizational standards.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and implement necessary changes.
     
We are looking for the following qualifications:
 
  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an Office Administration Program; or Office Procedures or Office Management Coursework coupled with computer training that includes Microsoft Office and relevant updates; or, an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and prioritize work
  • Effective customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience in Long Term Care is an asset
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Negative TB test and Immunization Records
