Maintenance (Casual)

We’re looking for a qualified, Casual Maintenance Person to join our team at Joseph Creek Village in Cranbrook, BC. If you are mechanically-inclined, a strong team player, and bring previous building or maintenance experience, then we’d like to hear from you! The successful candidate will bring related experience, and will have a passion for providing high quality care and support for seniors. 

We're looking for someone who:
  • Under the direction of the Community Manager will maintain all aspects of the building including but not limited to building interior, exterior, and grounds, mechanical, electrical and site aesthetics.
  • Ensures preventative maintenance duties on all building components are fulfilled as per the preventative maintenance schedule and manufactures specification. 
  • In conjunction with the Community Manager, will review, perform or coordinate all maintenance requests and resident requests. These items will be reviewed daily and will be prioritized in order of importance.
  • Directly deals with trades, suppliers and contracted services that relate to the maintenance department. This includes:
                      o    Initiate and follow all finance policies and procedures.
                      o    Track and monitor trades time and workmanship and will sign off on all services that are completed.
                      o    Collect and maintains all warranty information and actively pursue all warranty items when applicable.
                      o    Quotes, schedules, quality controls and scopes of work.
                      o    Settles and resolve conflict, disputes immediately and reports all discrepancies to Community Manager.
  • Works closely with the Community Managers to mitigate all resident and staff complaints.
  • Sources new trades, suppliers, material & manpower.
  • Assists the Community Managers in training and ongoing education of staff in relation to building system components and maintenance practices.
  • Works closely with construction during the turnover of a new building, addition or project.
  • Assists in the set up and implementation of new trade and service provider contracts. Will be familiar with the terms and condition of the service agreements and will hold all parties accountable to the terms and conditions of agreement.
The successful candidate will meet the below requirements:
  • A strong mechanical or electrical understanding.
  • Previous building or facility maintenance experience.
  • Exceptional ability to work independently is required, as this incumbent will be working autonomously and managing relationships with external vendors.
  • Must have a strong ability to trouble shoot and work through a variety of situations.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively and prioritize work.
  • Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate budgets.
  • Capable of carrying out significant lifting, carrying, pulling, bending and reaching
  • Strong communication skills.
  • The ability to create sound & economical solutions in emergency situation.
  • Ensures all Golden Life Management POLICIES AND PROCEDURES are practiced.
  • Able to read and write English.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
  • Provide Negative TB Screening, and Immunization Record.

What we offer you

Compensation: The $32.35 per hour rate for this position currently falls under provincial wage-levelling.
