We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced permanent, full-time Payroll Specialist to join our team in Cranbrook, BC. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our approximately 1500 employees across British Columbia and Alberta.
Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist will work in a team environment and share responsibilities for assisting with all aspects of payroll processing, maintaining accurate payroll records, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:

Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 1500 employees in BC and AB.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including employee information, earnings, and deductions.

Process and verify time data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Calculate and process statutory deductions, benefits, and other payroll-related items.

Prepare and submit payroll reports and remittances to government agencies and other stakeholders.

Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a timely and professional manner.

Assist with year-end payroll processes and reporting.

Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial payroll regulations.

Maintain confidentiality of all payroll information.

Experience in a unionized payroll environment is a strong asset.
Qualifications:

Current Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certification from the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) is required.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multi-provincial environment.

Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and regulations.

Experience processing payroll in a unionized environment is highly desirable.

Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Must be able to work on site in our Cranbrook, BC head office.

Successful clearance of a Vulnerable Sector – Criminal Record Check.
Compensation:
$58,000 to $69,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
