We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join our Corporate Head Office team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits for approximately 1,500 employees across British Columbia and Alberta.
 

What You’ll Do
The Payroll and Benefits Administrator will work in a team environment and share responsibilities for assisting with all aspects of payroll and benefit processing, maintaining accurate payroll records, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 1500 employees in BC and AB.
  • Administer the benefit invitations, terminations and payment calculations on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including employee information, earnings, and deductions.
  • Process and verify time data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Calculate and process statutory deductions, benefits, and other payroll-related items.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports and remittances to government agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with year-end payroll processes and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial payroll regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all payroll information.
  • Experience in a unionized payroll environment is a strong asset.

What You Bring
  • Completion (or nearing completion) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certification from the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) is required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multi-provincial environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience processing payroll in a unionized environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.   
  • Must be able to work on site in our Cranbrook, BC head office.   
  • Successful clearance of a Vulnerable Sector – Criminal Record Check.
